Suncity Group Volunteers Visit Ka-Ho St. Jose School
With the objective of promoting the virtues of caring for children and encouraging employees to engage in community activities, Suncity Group arranged a visit for employees to Ka-Ho St. Jose School on January 23.
A group of 25 Suncity Group volunteers visited the Ka-Ho St. Jose School in the afternoon, and were warmly welcomed by the school principal and students. Ka-Ho St. Jose School was originally a nursery school which was reformed into a boarding school since 1973 to offer primary education for boys and girls. The school is sponsored by Salesian Sisters of St John Bosco/Daughters of Mary Help of Christians with the aim of providing education to students in areas like morality, intelligence, physical science and aesthetics, in order to educate them to be good citizens and contribute to society. At the same time, students are given opportunities to learn self-discipline and team work through boarding life under the care of teachers and social workers, and come to understand the spirit of mutual help and care.
Upon arrival, the volunteers visited the student dormitory to understand boarding life. Subsequently, they played interactive games with students to create a relaxing atmosphere. Both volunteers and students were very happy and joyful. At the end of the visit, the students presented a band performance in a warm ambiance. The volunteers also delivered presents to each student and in return received handcrafted little angels as gifts, bringing the visit to a successful close.
Through participating in this event, volunteers have gained a deep understanding of the boarding life and further strengthened their community service awareness and responsibility. A majority of the children who live in Ka-Ho St. Jose School come from disadvantaged who are facing difficulties and require social care and warmth. All volunteers are pleased to join this meaningful activity where they can contribute to share mutual care and happiness to the children in need.
